Leah Tallent and Gareth Lowery have seen it all, utilizing everything they have to survive. But now, Leah’s father has gone missing and they have only seven days before he’ll be killed. The only clue to follow is a picture of one of the most famous icons of all time, and a strange map hidden in her father’s desk. This new mystery will take them from the pinnacle of the Acropolis to the depths of Cleopatra’s caves in order to unmask the man who has a score to settle.
In a location that’s been buried under rock for centuries the battle will begin, and the team will have to face the one foe that will expose secrets and unleash unheard of power in order to get what he wants. ‘The Hero’s Companion’—the one woman who will do anything to make sure the right side wins, will fight the good fight; but without Gareth, her time may just run out.
The Tallent & Lowery Interview
Part III
“Okay…lightning round.” Leah sat up straighter, as she watched Gareth’s stunning smile appear. “Mr. Lowery: What place would you like to visit right now?”
“Our bed,” he answered, raising his eyebrow. “You?”
“I’ll give you that one.”
Gareth grinned. “What’s your favorite word, Ms. Tallent?”
“Fu-”
Gareth reached out and put his hand over her mouth. “You know, for a librarian I would assume you’d be more of a wordsmith.”
“How about, ‘Bite Me’?” Leah grinned. “Yours?”
“Hell.”
“That would make sense, considering what we’ve seen.”
Nodding, he took Leah’s hand. “Tell me about Gareth Lowery in the simplest of terms.”
Without a thought, Leah replied, “Honest, smart, funny, kind…”
“Don’t forget hot.”
“…And hopelessly faithful,” Leah ended.
“You mean faithful.”
“No. I mean hopelessly. You believe in good things and always seem to have faith in the unseen.”
“After all this, you still don’t?”
Leah opened the card catalogue in her mind and stared at the images of everything from the vicious lion to the Gate to the site of the most bloody murder of all time. In each, the belief in Gareth’s eyes had never waned. “I have faith in you, Lowery. That’s enough for now. But I suppose minds can be changed.”
“Should I describe you?” Gareth asked.
“We’re not supposed to cuss, remember?“
Pulling her into his lap, Gareth’s voice dropped to a whisper, “Leah Tallent is ridiculously intelligent, funny, charming, unbelievably beautiful, and the most loyal person I’ve ever met.”
No matter how much evil they had left to face, or how many strange locations and impossible puzzles that were still out there for her and her hero to solve, there was one thing Leah knew she would never be able to explain or understand…and that was the pure love that came from Gareth Lowery’s kiss.
Leaning her head into his chest, Leah sighed. “Hey, Lowery. I say we skip this thing and go to the place you most want to visit.”
“Race ya!”
